About the Role
Sense is recruiting an exceptional Director of Retail to lead one of its most critical income-generating functions. This executive leadership role oversees a nationwide retail estate of 108 charity shops, more than 300 employees, and an annual turnover of approximately £15 million.
Reporting to the Chief Finance & Commercial Officer, you will be responsible for setting strategic direction, driving innovation, sardar article and ensuring the long-term sustainability of Sense’s retail operations in a rapidly changing retail landscape.

- Deliver a national retail strategy that drives sustainable income growth
- Strengthen and expand e-commerce and digital retail operations
- Improve operational efficiency and customer experience
- Build strategic partnerships to extend reach and visibility
- Position Sense as a sector-leading charity retailer
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a national retail workforce and volunteer community
- Use data-driven insights to optimise performance and manage risk
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and income delivery
- Optimise the retail property portfolio for long-term value
- Ensure strong governance, compliance, and risk management
- Embed sustainability and social responsibility into retail practices
- Represent Sense Retail with external partners and stakeholders

- Senior retail leadership experience in a large multi-site organisation
- Proven success driving growth, innovation, and transformation
- Strong financial and commercial expertise
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
