Role Overview
East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated pharmacist to take on the role of Lead Clinical Pharmacist – Specialist Surgical Pharmacist at Ipswich Hospital. This is a newly developed leadership position offering the opportunity to shape and advance pharmacy services across specialist surgical pathways.
The role is offered at Band 8a; however, strong Band 7 pharmacists will be considered through a structured development programme. You will work as a key member of the surgical multidisciplinary team and contribute to strategic pharmacy service development.
Key Clinical & Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead and develop advanced clinical pharmacy services for specialist surgical areas including dermatology, ophthalmology, ENT, and rheumatology
- Provide expert medicines optimisation for surgical patients, ensuring safe, effective, sardar article and cost-efficient prescribing
- Deliver high-level clinical pharmacy input aligned with agreed KPIs and professional standards
- Offer clinical supervision, mentorship, and guidance to pharmacy colleagues within surgical services
- Provide specialist leadership in parenteral nutrition services in line with national and local guidance
- Work closely with divisional and principal pharmacists to support high-cost medicines and homecare services
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to reduce medicine waste and improve patient outcomes
